How the salon works
Most salons book you in and work it out in the chair. Here the order is reversed. New clients, and anyone planning a real change, sit down for a complimentary consultation first: 15 to 20 minutes with a stylist to talk through your hair history, the photos you love, how often you'd like to be in the salon and what you'd like to spend. You only book once the plan makes sense to you.
The menu is built the same way. Every foil and balayage service is paired with a finishing package that covers the toner, the root shadow and a blow-dry, because that finish is what makes blonde look expensive and grow out softly. Prices are set for a 4 to 10 week regrowth, and anything that depends on your hair's history is quoted after the consultation rather than guessed from a photo. The full price list is public.
What clients come back for
Ask the regulars and 3 things come up. The salon itself: a luxury space with arched, back-lit mirrors, a leather lounge and Kérastase at the basin, built to be the nicest hour of your week. The care: every appointment starts with what you want your hair to do and what it has to survive, and the plan is built around that rather than around a menu. And the education: you leave knowing what was used, why, and how to look after it at home, which is the reason the hair guides exist.
The space
Jenna Ellen Hair sits in the block of shops next to Joe's Garage on Alberto Lane, in the heart of Silverdale. Inside, rendered walls, a blackened ceiling, brass fittings, polished concrete and arched, back-lit mirrors give it an industrial calm that is a long way from a strip-mall salon.
Retail shelves carry Kérastase, Redken, Davines, O&M and ghd, so what your stylist uses on the day is what you can take home.

The retail wall carries Kérastase, Redken, Davines, O&M and ghd, which are the same products the stylists use at the basin and the chair. The Kérastase in-salon treatments (Fusio-Dose, Premiere) and the Malibu C mineral reset are on the treatments page, and the ghd tools on the wall are the ones used for every blow wave.
Where the clients come from
Silverdale sits at the crossroads of the fastest-growing corner of Auckland, and the salon's regulars come from across the Hibiscus Coast: Orewa, Millwater, Milldale, Red Beach, Stanmore Bay and Whangaparaoa, plus Dairy Flat, Wainui, Albany and Warkworth. The salon is 2 minutes off the motorway at the Silverdale exit, with 90 minutes of free parking out the front that extends to 5 hours at the front desk.
